A2P 10DLC Carrier Registration

Become a Verified SMS Sender

(Required for Business Texting)

Complete these steps to start texting with MessageDesk:

1. Submit registration information
2. Update your website privacy policy
3. Submit final registration application

Step 1. Submit Registration Information

Your answers allow our team to process your request and submit information to carriers for A2P 10DLC carrier registration approval.

  • "Verified SMS Sender" means you're on the VIP list that tells phone companies, “Hey, we’re real, and we send texts the right way!” That way, messages get delivered properly, and contacts don’t get annoyed by spammy messages.
  • A2P (Application-to-Person) means messages are sent from a business (using an app) to a person.
  • 10DLC (10-Digit Long Code) is just a fancy name for a regular-looking phone number that businesses can use to send messages.
  • Carrier Registration means businesses have to tell the phone companies (like Verizon or AT&T) who they are and what kind of messages they’re sending. This helps stop spam and keeps messages from being blocked.

Phone companies require all businesses and organizations that text to complete A2P 10DLC registration to prevent spam and ensure safe, legal, and transparent messaging. By registering, you're proving they you're legitimate, follow texting rules, and only message people who have agreed to receive texts. This helps protect people from unwanted messages while improving delivery rates for organizations that follow the rules.

Step 2. Update Your Privacy & Opt-In Policies

Carriers require you to update your website with SMS opt-in and opt-out privacy policy language.

Use our SMS Privacy Policy and Terms & Conditions template as a start point for creating or updating your privacy policy.

  1. Your privacy policy must be publicly accessible and linked from your website in the footer or otherwise
  2. Include the type of information your organization collects.
  3. Explain how your organization collects information from contacts/customers.
  4. Explain how your organization uses and shares any collected information.
  5. Explain how your organization protects contact/customer data.
  6. State explicitly that your organization DOES NOT share or sell personal information with third parties for marketing/promotional purposes.
  7. Share information about how to opt out of further communications, particularly text messages.

Your Privacy Policy must also include a separate "SMS Terms and Conditions section that states the following:

  1. Your organization or business name
  2. The types of messages people will expect to receive
  3. How often you plan on sending messages
  4. A line that says, "Message and data rates may apply"
  5. How people can contact you for help or support e.g. (Text HELP for help, contact [email address] for support, etc.)
  6. How people can opt-out of further messaging by texting STOP to cancel

If you use forms in any way to collect phone numbers, carriers require you to include a manual opt-in checkbox and the following opt-in verbiage.

Example:

[ ] (check for consent)

By submitting this form and signing up for texts, you consent to receive text messages (e.g. {INSERT TYPES OF TEXTS YOU WILL SEND}) from [Organization Name] at the number provided. Consent is not a condition of purchase. Msg & data rates may apply. Msg frequency varies. Unsubscribe at any time by replying STOP or clicking the unsubscribe link (where available). Reply HELP for help. Privacy Policy [link] & Terms [link].

Note: This language is ONLY required if you use forms to collect phone numbers

Step 3. Submit Final Registration Application

⚠️ Note: Carrier Registration timelines vary between 7 and 14 business days. Completion time depends on the quality of information submitted and third party carrier approval timelines.

Thank you! Our team will begin reviewing your registration application and contact you directly with any additional questions.

"Simple and Increases Client Participation"
What do you like best about MessageDesk?

I like how you can organize contacts into groups instead of clicking every contact individually. It helps us reach the target audience. Using our office number for the app helps clients verify the legitimacy of the message as opposed to spam text.

"Best-in-class UX"
What do you like best about MessageDesk?

Bouncing around and getting a lot done quickly is super easy and intuitive. It gets the job done better than the dozen or so other solutions I've tested. Not a lot of hoops to jump through to get started. Great trial flexibility to really dig in without committing. Most others are fairly limited.
